Greetings from California!!

Good morning all!

Greetings from California! I can't believe it is already Christmas time. I have no idea where this year went! I also cannot believe we are living half way across the country and this will be our first Christmas just the 2 (and a half) of us. No crazy fun plans here, maybe some movies and this is actually our first home with a fireplace! I'm thinking some s'mores are in store for us!
While it will be just the two of us for Christmas, I am very excited that my parents will be joining us for the new year! I can't wait even more because we will be revealing the gender of our precious baby! Any guesses on what you think it is??
So much has happened since we moved out here, we found a great place that is close to so much! Jason is still working up at Camp Pendleton for the time being (until March) and then he will be down in San Diego working at the Naval Hospital here. I know he cannot wait until then, no more long drives and early mornings. I have been keeping busy at home, still attempting to get us unpacked. Who knew we had so much stuff?! Not me!
I have also been keeping busy with some great friends I have met out here! We had a wonderful weekend with them at a hilarious National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (80's) themed Christmas party! It was such a blast and so great to get out and have a good time!
Well, I best be going now, got to head up to the commissary before everyone wakes up and goes there too! Hope you all have a wonderful day and a very Merry Christmas! Please give all your precious children hugs and kisses from Miss Amanda, I miss them all like crazy!

Thank you all for your love and prayers,

5 days, 4 states and 1,507 miles later

Well we did it!! We finally made it to California. Our journey took us from Sugar Land, Tx to Junction, TX; El Paso, TX; Phoenix, AZ; and finally San Diego, CA. We were blessed to have a friend in Phoenix who showed us incredible hospitality throughout our 2 day stay there (we took an extra day to take a break from the long drives). She took me on a hike, took us to amazing restaurants and let us nap on her couch. She even let us bring our rascals in to play with her dog. Thank you Olivia, you have been such a blessing during this move.
Not to much to report in our first few days here. Just attempting to get to know the area. Jason reported yesterday afternoon and left early this morning for his first day of work. What I will do with my day I don't know. I am excited to say we will be heading to the [cold] beach with the dogs tomorrow. Maybe pack a picnic :) I am even more excited to report that we found an amazing home that we move into Tuesday!! Finally, out of hotels!! Thank you all for your continued prayers and well wishes, I can't believe that we are finally here!

Catching Up

Hey there everyone,

I can't believe it has been so long since I last posted. What a slacker!
Well, so much has gone on since May and here is a quick recap:
- Jason graduated Basic Training in July, just in time for his 25th birthday. It was an incredible ceremony! And it was so awesome to see all the support that all the other sailors had as well. To see all these different people from all walks of life, all races, all religions, all social statuses come together to support our troops was such an incredible sight.
- The day after graduating Jason headed to Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX. I am so incredibly thankful that it wasn't Pensacola, FL. We have been truly blessed to be able to see each other 2-3 weekends out of the month.
- Jason worked so hard these last few months in school and is finishing in the top of his class, meaning he was able to choose his job and where we will be living for the next 2-3 years. Our top choice was San Diego and luckily we are able to go! We are so excited for this new adventure! We leave in about 6 weeks and I can't believe it is coming up so soon!

Well, there is pretty much a very quick summary of what has been happening the last 4 months. Hopefully I will be a little more efficient when it comes to updating :)

Thanks again for all y'all's love and support, there is no way we could have made it through all this without it!

One more reason to love the weekends!

Well today I got a somewhat unexpected call! I have normally be receiving my phone calls on Sunday so much to my surprise I received a ONE HOUR phone call from my sweet hubby today!!!
I had all these signs that I might be getting it today so I was little freaked out when the phone rang and I saw the number. Thank you Lord for the heads up :)
He is doing so much better! He has been moved up to Phase III out of IV so although I love these phone calls on weekends this one was bittersweet...bitter- it may be my last phone call of that length....sweet- if it is my last then that means he is out of RCU and back in a division and will be graduating in 4 weeks!! He said that if I don't hear from him by Sunday (5/22) night then he is back in a division.
Hopefully I will have good news before then, I definitely don't like waiting but like Jason says..."that's the military, you hurry up to wait." I am definitely looking forward to seeing what the future holds for us (I have some amazing women to look up to and ask question if I need to, I have also found some great books to get me prepared for what military life is all about). I miss him so much and I truly feel that we are really approaching this light at the end of the tunnel (unfortunately this is one of many tunnels though, but just trying to stay positive).

Thank you all for all your love, prayers and support, there is no way we would have been able to make it without them.

On hold....

Hey there everyone,

So sorry for my lack of enthusiasm towards the blog. This has, without a doubt, been some of the hardest weeks I have had and even though I thought we only had 3 weeks left I was horribly mistaken.

I haven't been away from my phone in weeks and decided to take an exercise class with my girlfriend, Amy. After realizing how full the class was I opted to put my phone underneath the aerobics step so I didn't risk stepping on it...about 20 minutes into the class I had this gut feeling...right as I picked up my phone I saw Jason's missed call...I truly believe this is a sign from the heavens that working out is not a good idea for me (see? I can find humor in all situations.). I listened to his voicemail and found out that he had been put on hold due to an injury. He has a stress fracture in his right tibia (shin for you non anatomy majors) and will not be graduating June 3 as expected. He will be in the rehabilitation facility until he is healed (praying for no more than 3-4 weeks) and once he is recovered he will still have to endure another month of basic training.
Although this set back is disappointing, one good point is that he is now receiving one 45 (!!!!!! yes!!! 45!!!) min phone call on the weekends (this is awesome seeing as I have received one 14 min phone call and one 54 second phone call in the whole 5 weeks he has been gone). Basically the best and quickest 45 minutes of my week.
He is keeping in high spirits and the letters really help. His address has changed so if you would like to have it please email me on here or message me on Facebook.

Thank you all so much for your love and support,

A

46 days!!!

This week was a great week! Not only did I receive J's graduation date (June 3, 2011) but I was able to receive my first letter!! Although it was a quick hello and goodbye and i love you it was the best letter I have ever gotten!

Along with his graduation date and quick letter I did receive his address. If you would like it please contact me via Facebook message or through the blog. Letters and cards really help boost morale during basic training so whether or not you know him well I'm sure he would feel great knowing you are thinking and praying about him.

Thank you all for your constant love and support,

1 week down!!

One week down, seven more to go!! This week has been quite a roller coaster ride! I received my official 2 minute phone call from Jason last Wednesday around 645 pm. I truly believe that it when it really sank in that I would no longer have as much contact with him as I usually do. What really gets me is not receiving a "Good Morning Beautiful" text and knowing I won't be getting it.
To top everything my sinuses thought it would be fun to just go ahead and get infected. Gotta love that pollen!! I've been put on antibiotics and am feeling significantly better (I even plan on going to the gym this afternoon).
Mom left for New Orleans yesterday and last night was my first official night alone. I must say it was absolutely awful. Last night was definitely by far one of my worst nights. I took a Sudafed night time and passed out into a deep sleep. It is funny when I get up to look at the bed. My side is completely messed up and Jason's looks like it hasn't even been touched (the dogs however are loving this new space!). I still get ready with the bathroom door closed and the bedroom lights off out of habit to not disturb Jason. I find it so  funny how these habits are still going on even though he is not here.
Even though it has been a rough week, Monday was by far my best day. After going to the doctor and feeling like complete poo all day, I came home with so many things in my arms. Walked up the stairs to our apartment and saw a FedEx post on the door. I had received a package (I was only expecting one package...Jason's belongings!). I immediately dropped everything and just sprinted to the office!! I almost broke down after getting the box. I came inside (of course I had to let the dogs out...longest 2 min of my life) and as soon as we got back inside I tore open that box like it was Christmas morning. Unfortunately there was no letter like I had hoped but I couldn't ask for anything more than to just have his clothes. I obviously slept in them that night. I miss him so much but I know he is safe and working hard for our family and our great nation.

Thank you all for your constant love and support,

This day came way too fast...

Hey there everyone,

Jason has made it safe to Chicago. He is currently waiting at the USO for the Petty Officers to arrive and take them to Great Lakes where Basic Training will begin.

Friday night was our going away party for him (thanks to everyone who came out and a great big thank you to Amy and Mickey who opened their home for us!). It was such a great night and a wonderful way to send Jason off.
Saturday night we had dinner with Jason's birth mother Julie. It was a great night filled with laughter, some tears and some delicious homemade chili cheese dogs, coleslaw (which I need to get the recipe to!) and smores!
Sunday night was great, church and lunch with the family and a whole lot of errands. Sunday night was Jason's last night home, we basically spent it on the couch watching movies and eating queso.
Monday was when it started getting tough (at least for me). We woke up super late, around 1030, from there went to Lopez Mexicana (Jason's favorite), for (what might be) his last tex-mex meal. From there we ran some errands and got any last minute things he might need for his stay at the hotel that night. Once he got checked into the hotel we went to dinner at Taste of Texas, another one of Jason's favorites. It was my first time there and I was not disappointed! After dinner (and a very tearful goodbye), I dropped Jason off at the hotel and headed home where my wonderful mother was there waiting.
Tuesday came way too fast. I woke up bright and early, 630 am, of course not quite as early as Jason. He had to be up at 330! I drove downtown to the post office off of San Jacinto where I waited about an hour to watch him swear in and officially be put on active duty. After he swore in we had about 45 minutes to just sit and be with each other until he had to leave. Leaving was not easy. Luckily he was able to keep his phone on and we could keep in communication. They left the post office around 1 and headed for Bush.
I have to brag, I have the most AMAZING friends in the world. They were all here within hours of when I got home, with food, drinks and tissues ready for anything I had coming. It certainly made my night a whole lot easier. (The dance offs didn't hurt either.)

I will keep everyone posted with how Jason is doing and hopefully I will have his address soon and I plan on posting it once I get it.

Thank you all for all of your support,

Amanda

PS: We got some pictures taken last month up in Fort Worth. The CD came in the mail today...I couldn't have asked for better timing! Here is the link to look at them on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2135879&id=54605716&l=852a3f55a5

Birth Mother Found!!!

After 6 years of searching and dead ends we have found Jason's birth mother!!! I cannot even believe that I am typing these words!! God is so amazing that after 6 years of dead ends we find both parents within 4 days!! We actually just got back from having dinner with his birth mother, Julie, and her husband in Pasadena! It went so well and I will be posting a picture of the initial reunion tomorrow. I can't believe how wonderful it is to know that we are done searching and this part of Jason's life is complete. It makes me just beam with happiness!

Anchors Away!

Ahoy All!!

Well I guess if you haven't noticed we are officially a Navy family! Jason and I made the joint decision that Navy life would be the best choice for our family. Jason leaves April 5 (which is quickly approaching!) and will be headed to Great Lakes, Illinois for basic training. I decided to start this blog to keep everyone up to date with this new journey in our lives! So definitely be looking for updates :)
